DETAIL OF THE KOREA RADIOACTIVE WASTE AGENCY

  • Mission: KORAD aims to manage low and intermediate level radioactive waste and spent fuels produced in Korea in a safe and professional manner to protect public health and national environment.

  • Low and Intermediate Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Facility
    - The LILRW(Low & Intermediate Level Radioactive Waste) Disposal Facility at Yanbuk-myeon, Gyeongju city has the total capacity of 800,000 drums(200 liter size) in the area of 2,100,000 m2.
  • Surface Facilities
    - The ground supporting buildings comprise the main control center monitoring all the information regarding the disposal facility, radiation control area and machine shop
  • Cheongjeong Nuri Park
    - The Park with the theme of nature and science is constructed within LILRW Disposal Center site. There are the KORADIUM (Visitor Center) and Outdoor Theatre for education and exhibitions.
